Nick Foles

Wait… What? How could Nick Foles come back if the Eagles are already letting him walk? It’s simple. Allow me to explain. Despite all of the rumors that Nick Foles was going to have a crazy demand this year, his market seems rather dry. The Denver Broncos decided to trade for Joe Flacco over Nick Foles, and the other few teams left are in a prime position to draft a rookie quarterback within the first round of the NFL Draft.

Right now, the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be the only team that are really going to make a strong push for Foles. And even then they still might offer him a low deal, with the mindset of drafting a rookie in the first round anyway. Nick Foles has made it clear that he wants to have the opportunity to be a franchise quarterback. If the Jags were to eye up a rookie for the future, it’s doubtful that they offer Foles a large, long-term deal.

Foles has made it clear in the past that he can walk away from the game of football in a heartbeat if the situation isn’t right. If Foles and his agent figures that he just might end up being a backup for a young quarterback elsewhere, he could seek another opportunity to come back to Philly on a cheaper deal that would automatically give him the backup role in an offense that he’s familiar with. This scenario is probably unlikely to happen, but it’s definitely not impossible.
