5. Richard Rodgers, TE

Richard Rodgers lost a lot of time in 2018, no thanks to a knee injury that he suffered in the preseason. The Eagles were very confusing with their use of tight ends throughout the year. Although they have both, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert, they dialed up a hefty dose of Josh Perkins for a while. It made us think that Rodgers may get a lot of usage when he returns.

As it turns out, that wasn’t the case. Ertz and Goedert started getting a ton of work since the Eagles figured that they could be beneficial with two tight-end sets. Unfortunately for Rodgers, that didn’t necessarily include him. No hail mary passes were necessary, so Rodgers didn’t get to flash his unique skills of catching the clutch deep ball in 2018.

Prediction: Walk

6. Jordan Matthews, WR

The Eagles brought in Jordan Matthews when they realized just how hard it is to have lingering injuries in the passing game. For a while, the Eagles were rolling with wideouts like DeAndre Carter and Kamar Aiken. But soon they would figure out that it’s tough to be effective on offense with players that are not only struggling, but they aren’t all that familiar with the team either.

That’s when the Eagles decided to bring back an old face and signed Jordan Matthews. Not only was Matthews solid with his rotational role, but he was also good for the locker room. Seeing as though Matthews and Carson Wentz developed a strong relationship in 2016, it gave the Eagles quarterback some familiarity, which ended up working out for Nick Foles too.

Prediction: Re-sign on a two-year deal
