LeGarrette Blount

Age: 32

Last Team: Detroit Lions

Two years ago while the Eagles were in this similar position of looking for a veteran running back, they elected to go with LeGarrette Blount. Obviously, we all know how that turned out. While Blount wasn’t a three-down back with the Birds, he was very productive in his role.

He was especially productive in the playoffs. I’m not sure if the Eagles are as efficient on offense in the postseason without Blount on the team. Not only was he running great, but his leadership and experience played a big part in the Eagles major success. Blount signed with the Detroit Lions last season, where he wasn’t asked to do much. It’s unfortunate because the Eagles could’ve really used his services once again.

Although it’s not ideal to sign a 32-year-old running back in today’s NFL, I wouldn’t hate the idea of the Eagles bringing Blount back one more year. As long as they prioritize the position in the draft, having another three-headed monster with Blount, Clement, and a potential rookie sounds like a good idea. Plus, Blount could act as a mentor for that young rookie as well. And he will come cheap. Definitely something to consider.
