The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed their longtime veteran Jason Peters to a new contract, which he is excited about.

To return or not to return, that was the question for Philadelphia Eagles longtime left tackle, Jason Peters. After spending 15 seasons in the NFL, there were many questions about Peters’ future in the league. Not only did Peters end his 2017 prematurely due to a major knee injury, but he also suffered multiple injuries in 2018, which indicated that it might be time to hang up his cleats. As Peters couldn’t care less about what his body says, he decided to he wants to play in 2019.

There was obviously no question about the Eagles desire to keep Peters on board. As he was still pretty decent for the most part last season, it was quite clear that the team could still use him moving forward. The only issue though was the enormous cap hit looming over the Eagles’ heads. In order to ensure he will play in Philly next season though, Peters caved for the first time and redid his contract in order to stay with the Eagles and make his deal cap friendly.

The final contract ended up becoming a one-year deal, worth $10 million. About $5.5 of the $10 million deal is guaranteed. The rest of Peters’ money is pretty much earned through a bonus. After seeing a handful of Free Agent tackles around the NFL sign huge deals on Monday, the Eagles really got lucky with Peters’ willingness to sign a new deal. It’s unclear if this will be Peters last season or not, but at least we know he’s on board for 2019. And as the Eagles must be excited, Peters and a few other teammates are happy as well.
