Kareem Hunt’s suspension could affect the Philadelphia Eagles
Now that Kareem Hunt’s suspension is set, it could affect the Philadelphia Eagles chances at making a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
What are the Philadelphia Eagles going to do about their backfield situation? Right now, they have four guys under contract heading into the 2019 offseason activities. Those backs happen to be Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood, Boston Scott, Corey Clement, and Donnel Pumphrey. Not exactly an ideal scenario for the Eagles. Hence the reason why everybody is in a panic already.
There’s no possible way the Eagles head into the season with just those four guys on the final roster. The Eagles have to snag a running back in the NFL Draft, or maybe even trade for one. Recently, the Eagles have been calling front office’s to try and make a deal, but there aren’t many options.
As of right now, two running backs have been rumored to be on the trading block. Chicago Bears running back, Jordan Howard. And Cleveland Browns running back, Duke Johnson. Apparently, the Eagles have shown interest in both guys, but many assume that Johnson suits the role better since he has a lot of experience catching the ball out of the backfield. Unfortunately, the Browns might have no choice but to hold on to Johnson for a while.
Kareem Hunt’s suspension is set
A couple of months ago, the Browns signed troubled running back, Kareem Hunt. The former Kansas City Chiefs running back got released last season as he was in hot water for an incident that occurred months before the 2018 NFL season kicked off. For a while, Hunt was a free agent, but the Browns decided that they were going to give him a second chance by signing him.
As of Friday, it has been announced that Hunt will be suspended for eight games during the 2019 season. Also, he will not appeal the decision. Therefore, the Browns are headed into the 2019 season knowing for a fact that they will be without Hunt for half of the season. Now, it’s more than likely that they hold onto Duke Johnson, which could affect the Eagles chances of trading for a running back this season. That pretty much narrows it down to trading for Howard, or just signing a veteran free agent. What will the Eagles do?
