Round 2, Pick 57

Do the Eagles need to draft a wide receiver in 2019? That’s been a small debate going around this offseason. For 2019, the Eagles have Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and Nelson Agholor as their three starters. A solid group for next season, but what about beyond? Agholor’s playing on a fifth-year option, and he could get pricey next year. Jeffery’s got time left on his deal, but his current contract may be his last. As for Jackson, he’s signed on for three years, but he’s 32 years old.

Yes, the Eagles could and should draft a wideout in 2019. This class isn’t very strong when it comes to the first round, as some of the early picks could be reaches. However, the second round has some prime prospects for the Eagles to snag. Here, they would draft Oklahoma wideout, Marquise Brown. With the Sooners, Brown posted back to back, 1,000-yard seasons. Recently, he caught 75 passes for 1,318 yards and ten touchdowns.

Known as a speed burner, Brown drew some comparisons to the Eagles own, DeSean Jackson. Before the Eagles acquired Jackson this year, they haven’t had a legitimate deep threat since their first stint with the longtime veteran. But this year, they could have one proven deep threat, teaching the younger deep threat. And in that case, Marquise Brown could offer Jackson some plays off this year, so the Eagles can help avoid any nagging injuries that Djax has dealt with in the past.
