Myles Gaskin, RB, Washington

Round 4, Pick 138

In my honest opinion, I believe that the Eagles will trade with the Cleveland Browns for Duke Johnson. And who knows, it could be for this pick. Right now, the rumored price is a fourth or fifth-rounder, but that could change as time moves on. Say those trade talks fall through though, and the Eagles own all of their draft picks still. They would be wise to take a guy like Myles Gaskin out of Washington with this pick.

There were some solid running backs still on the board by the time we got here. Guys like Trayveon Williams, Elijah Holyfield, and Rodney Anderson were still there, but for this pick, the Eagles went with Gaskin based off of the type of running back that they need. As we all know, they enjoy running with a committee of backs with different strengths. Jordan Howard, he’s a power back. Corey Clement, he’s a bit more elusive, but surely isn’t weak. Gaskin, he offers a solid pass-catching skill out of the backfield and could be great in situations for screen passes.

Although Gaskin is viewed as undersized, we should know by now that the Eagles won’t let that type of ‘red flag’ dictate the idea of avoiding him. He may not be an explosive three-down back, but Gaskin’s versatility could be a nice addition to the backfield. His vision is solid, he’s a threat in the passing game, he can block fairly well, and he’s been durable thus far.
