Round 1, Pick 25: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S

Here’s one of those picks that should make quite a few of the die-hard Eagles fans happy. His is a name that’s been linked to the Eagles for quite some time. Many who have taken the time to craft their own versions of mock drafts have listed this five-foot-eleven safety/corner hybrid as their ideal candidate to hear his name called at pick 25.

He’s probably playing safety at the pro level, and his addition should allow Philly to give their ‘iron man’, Malcolm Jenkins, a quick breather from time to time, not because he needs one (we found that out a season ago) but because with so many vets on the team, it would be nice to keep them fresh all season long.

Round 2, Pick 53: Chase Winovich, DE

Here’s a pick where things could get very interesting for Philly. Winovich has found his way onto Philly’s pre-draft radar, and in that happening, a diamond was found in college football’s figurative rough.

In doing a little research you might find that, though no one has Michigan‘s former star defensive end going in the first round, there aren’t many that have him sliding into Round 3 either. This is one of those guesses that can be spot on or totally wrong. We’ll know who was right in a day or so.
