CB Sidney Jones, 2017

It is still way too early to label Sidney Jones a complete bust. However, the former standout cornerback out of Washington has struggled to stay on the field due to several injuries.

The Eagles selected Jones in the second round with the 43rd overall pick in the 2017 draft knowing he was dealing with a torn Achilles which he suffered during his pro day workout.

Jones spent all but 29 defensive snaps on the sideline during his rookie season rehabbing.

Heading into the 2018 season, Jones earned the starting nickel cornerback position out of the preseason. He started the first six games of the season before the injury bug would strike again. This time it was his hamstring. Jones would eventually return for a few games, but he continued to struggle when given the opportunity. Jones only played for 33 percent of the Eagles defensive snaps last season.

Entering his third NFL season, Jones could potentially be on the hot seat. Last season showed the Eagles have a number of young talented cornerbacks who have a bright future in this league. There is also the possibility Philadelphia may select a cornerback relatively early this weekend.

We’ll have to wait and see how he performs going forward, but it’s not looking good for Jones as of right now.
