When training camp arrives on July 24th, the Philadelphia Eagles will be one of the most interesting teams to pay attention to in the entire NFL.

June is drawing to its’ close. That means the 4th of July will be here before you know it. Training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles comes three weeks after that. Players report to the Novacare Complex on July 24th. The first team practice goes down a day later.

We’ll all have to wait until Sunday, August 4th at 7 PM to experience a version that’s open to the public.

Here’s a quick look at five position battles that will have us talking for weeks.

1. Cornerback

We’re thinking Ronald Darby, Avonte Maddox, and Jalen Mills walk into camp as the top three guys on the depth chart. Sidney Jones and Cre’Von LeBlanc definitely deserve to be on the roster, as does Rasul Douglas.

Do Josh Hawkins, Jay Liggins, Jeremiah McKinnon, and Godwin Igwebuike have enough to shake things up? Don’t be surprised if there’s a surprise.

2. Linebacker

Zach Brown will turn heads in 2019. Write that down. Nigel Bradham is in. That gives us two guys we think are shoo-ins. Nigel Bradham is the third guy on the depth chart. That means Joey AlfieriT.J. EdwardsL.J. FortNathan GerryPaul Worrilow, and Alex Singleton are all in a battle for what might be, at the most, two roster spots.

3. Wide receiver

Unless Nelson Agholor gets traded, something we’ve been told might happen for a while, he’s probably going to work his way onto the roster. You can also give the nod to Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

By now, Mack Hollins or Shelton Gibson should be good enough to beat out Carlton Agudosi, Greg WardCharles Johnson, DeAndre Thompkins, Marken MichelDevin Ross, and Braxton Miller, but we know both of their histories.

Again, if there are some surprises, don’t be shocked.

4. Safety

It’s hard to get something off of our minds. If Andrew Sendejo doesn’t end up on Philly’s roster, ‘The Birds’ get a compensatory pick in next year’s draft. That could be all of the ammunition the Eagles need to invest a little more time in one of the younger guys.

Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod are the unquestioned starters. Blake CountessTre Sullivan, Trae Elston, and Deiondre’ Hall will battle it out to see who the reserves are.

5. Running back

Josh Adams was one of the key pieces to a run last season when the injury bug began biting several key Eagles. What’s crazy is, even with all of that being said, Adams may not make the team this season.

That’s because Philly acquired Jordan Howard, Corey Clement should be healthy, and ‘The Birds’ used a second-round selection in the most recent draft on Miles Sanders. Adams might sneak onto the final roster, but there’s the veteran, Wendell Smallwood, along with Donnel Pumphrey, and Boston Scott.

Philly’s running back room is just like what we’re seeing with the safeties, corners, linebackers, wide receivers and everybody else on the roster. There’s a lot of talent. There aren’t that many spots.
