20 Former Philadelphia Eagles who deserve Hall of Fame consideration
1. Michael Vick
The NFL never saw anything like Michael Vick before he showed up. You could also argue that there will never be anyone like him that we’ll see in the future. Isn’t that what the Hall of Fame is about?
2. Andy Reid
A Super Bowl victory will probably solidify Reid’s chances. Well, he’s still working on that one, but after mentoring some of the greatest quarterback talents we’ve ever seen (Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, and Patrick Mahomes) and after racking up over 207 wins (including the NFL PLayoffs), there needs to be a discussion when he’s done coaching.
3. Brian Mitchell
Count them. We’re talking 19,013 total return yards (14,014 on kickoffs and 4,999 on punts). There are some running backs and receivers who would kill for those kinds of yards.
4. Al Wistert
Wistert is a two-time NFL Champion. He’s a six-time First-team All-Pro (1944-1949), a two-time Second-team All-Pro (1950 and 1951), and a member of the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team. No Eagle will ever wear the number 70 again, and he’s a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame.
We’re still scratching our heads as to why he isn’t enshrined in Canton.
5. Wilbert Montgomery
6,789 career rushing yards, two Super Bowl titles, two Pro Bowl nods, two All-Pro nods and 57 total touchdowns over the course of nine NFL seasons may not be enough for Hall of Fame voters, but it’s good enough for Eagles fans. He’s a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame. He should be in Canton as well.
