Andre Dillard, LT

It’s always great news when a draft pick is standing out for good reasons so early on in the offseason. This year, the Eagles made it clear that they are looking towards the future at the left tackle position by selecting Washington State’s Andre Dillard in the first round of the NFL Draft. While Dillard will take a backseat to Jason Peters this year, he’s still getting first-team reps.

As expected, Dillard has stood out — especially when it comes to pass blocking. In college, Dillard didn’t have to run block much, as they passed the ball a ton at Washington State. While that drew some concerns for Dillard, he ended up becoming a pro at pass blocking.

The preseason will be a great test for Dillard as he will get some gametime reps in, but as he’s been practicing with the first team on occasion in training camp, it’s clear that Dillard belongs. So if Peters’ injuries happen to catch up with him in 2019, they could feel very comfortable with throwing their first-round rookie into the fire now.
