The argument for ignoring the fans and media

For several years now, we’ve had Eagles coaches and players tell us that, for as good as Nick Foles was, Nate Sudfeld made them comfortable in feeling that they could move on from Foles and make the Sudfeld if need be.

Ladies and gentlemen, we all know that Foles was fully capable of leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. We, at ITI, are here to tell you, if Carson Wentz goes down, Nate Sudfeld probably isn’t that same level of player. That doesn’t mean he can’t become that guy, but he isn’t that guy right now. On the other hand, you already know Kaepernick can lead a team to the Super Bowl.

Some of you are saying ‘this is supposed to be the reason you don’t sign him’. You all are right. There are three major reasons you don’t bring him in.

First, it tells us Philly isn’t as confident as they said they were in the other guys behind Wentz. Second, this is Wentz’s team, and we all know Kaepernick sees himself as a starter only. Third, whether we want it to be or not, this would become an instant distraction.

The reasons why all of those theories are valid is obvious. Whenever the Eagles are brought up, we’d cease to talk about football, and we’d begin to discuss whether or not Kaepernick would kneel during the National Anthem in Week 1 of the regular season.

The good news is Philly is stable enough of an organization that they could handle all of this. If they agree internally, and their focus is truly to put the best team possible on the field, there’s only one solution. They should, indeed, give him a call. What does it hurt if they do? The worst-case scenario is you find out you’re in better shape with the guys you already have.
