The 6th best: Ty Detmer

The brother of former Eagle backup quarterback and holder-extraordinaire Koy Detmer, Ty Detmer would make his Eagles debut in 1996, filling in for an injured Rodney Peete, who was lost for the season.

The former Heisman Trophy winner would guide coach Ray Rhodes’ squad to a 7-4 record, throwing for 2,911 yards and 15 touchdowns with a passer rating of 80.8.  The team would finish 10-6 and get into the playoffs as a wildcard. There, they’d lose to the San Francisco 49ers in a muddy quagmire of an afternoon by a score of 14-0.

The rest of his tenure wasn’t as memorable, but for what he did in the 1996 season in relief of Peete, he is deserving of the number six spot.
