The 4th worst: We’ve changed our minds. We insert the dark days of Eagles football.

There’s a reason this period is the worst in the history of Eagles football. They honestly deserve a list of their own, but we can lump them together here.

When the Eagles traded future Hall of Famer Sonny Jurgensen in favor of Norm Snead, a revolving door of backups began. King Hill (that’s a real name), Jack Concannon, John Huarte, and George Mira would be some of the guys who would share the honor of being called the Eagles backup quarterback in the Snead era.

Rick Arrington, John Reaves, and Pete Liske would also split some abysmal starts and backup designations after Snead’s departure following the 1970 season. The fun, or lack thereof, lasted until former league MVP Roman Gabriel took over and provided some slight stability at the position in 1973.

If you haven’t heard of any riders on that carousel of quarterbacks, don’t feel ashamed. You can just ask your father or, if you’re able to, you can ask his father and watch them shake with rage if they haven’t blocked them from memory intentionally.
