NBC’s Sunday Night Football intro will feature three Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz, Fletcher Cox, and Zach Ertz.
Earlier in the Summer, the Philadelphia Eagles saw a few of their brightest stars were named by their peers as being among the 100-best players in the entire NFL. All we’ve talked about for a while has been the tremendous amount of talent that sits on Philly’s roster. Not only can they play, but some of them also rank among the most popular players in the league for one reason or another.
You’ll see a lot of the Eagles in primetime during the 2019 NFL season. They’re featured in five games of that variety, including three Sunday night games, a Thursday night game, and a Monday night game, but whether they play on Sunday night or not, Eagles fans will get to see three of their favorite players, Carson Wentz, Fletcher Cox, and Zach Ertz in the Sunday Night Football intro.
NBC Sports made the announcement on Monday.
Along with Wentz, Ertz, and Cox, there are a few other NFL stars worth mentioning. The Chicago Bears are represented by Khalil Mack, Kyle Fuller, and Mitchell Trubisky. The Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes made the cut as well, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Five other quarterbacks round out the other guys who’ll share the stage with Carrie Underwood. They include Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings, Jared Goff of the L.A. Rams, Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns, and Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys.
We’ve also learned that Joan Jett will join Carrie Underwood, who’s performed the theme for seven consecutive seasons as they’ll attempt to revamp the original version, the classic ‘Waiting All Day For Sunday Night’, in their own style.
Apparently, there was some controversy surrounding Underwood’s last theme ‘Oh, Sunday Night’, that she debuted in 2016. There were a few issues some fans were having with ‘Oh, Sunday Night’ sounding too much like her own smash, ‘Somethin’ Bad’. Who knew? Well, hopefully, Jett and Underwood have come up with something that will make everyone happy.
