Andre Dillard, OT

Round 1, Pick 22

Everything the Eagles did in the first two rounds seemed quite logical, and it all started right off the bat in the first round. With the Houston Texans on deck with the 23rd pick, the Eagles decided to jump ahead of them knowing that Washington State tackle, Andre Dillard was going next.

On many draft boards, Dillard was quite high, and teams that were in search of linemen were salivating over the fact that Dillard was falling as far as he did. Houston was ready to take him, but the Eagles weren’t going to let the opportunity to grab Dillard pass up.

We can be thankful that Howie Roseman didn’t because Dillard has been outstanding. The Eagles found their Jason Peters replacement, and they don’t even need to replace him yet. Dillard won’t get thrown into the fire right away, but after an impressive preseason, the rookie showed that he is clearly up for the challenge. It’s only been one offseason, but so far Dillard looks like a hit.
