Josh Sweat, DE

Remember when we said out of five preseason busts, one still survived? Well, here is the survivor. Eagles’ 2018 fourth-round selection, Josh Sweat. The former Florida State pass rusher was dubbed as a steal for the Eagles last year when they snagged him in a mid-round.

Now, we’re finding out why he ended up dropping. Many were under the belief that Sweat’s injury concerns were what killed his draft stock. As it turns out, there may be more to it. Despite already landing on the Injured Reserve during his rookie season, Sweat has struggled to impress.

The Eagles remained confident in the pass rusher throughout the summer as he garnered some hype early on — but he simply did not impress anybody during the preseason. Initially, the fourth defensive end spot was Sweat’s to lose, and he might just end up losing it.

Not only did Daeshon Hall have more of an explosive preseason performance, but even Shareef Miller played at a similar caliber as Sweat at times. We’re not entirely writing Josh Sweat off. However, it is slightly alarming that he can only stand out in practice, but becomes somewhat of a ghost when the games roll around. He did it last season, and now he did it this year as well.
