3. Who else would have done a better job?

Think about something for a second. You do remember that the three-man quarterback depth chart in Philly was supposed to be Carson Wentz, Nate Sudfeld, and Clayton Thorson, don’t you? You’ve seen both Sudfeld and Thorson. Do you really think this team would be in a better position with either one of them?

Let’s look outside the Eagles franchise and see what else is available. You’ve got guys like Kirk Cousins in Minnesota and Mitchell Trubisky in Chicago. You’ll also guys like Marcus Mariota in Tennessee. Do you think they’re better options than ’11’ is?

Wentz’s skill set has spoiled us all to some extent. Everyone knows how good he is, and with that, comes both reasons for optimism and criticism. Every throw will be critiqued. Every missed throw will be announced on social media. Every interception will lead to more criticism, and every time he goes down, everyone will hold their breath until they’re certain that he’ll get back up and he won’t be limping.

Wentz can improve, but in the meantime, ask yourselves something. Would you rather have ’11’ or Trubisky? Do you think Cousins would have made those throws to Arcega-Whiteside, to Ertz, to Agholor, and to Goedert? Do you think they would have had this team in a position to win if they found themselves in the same situation?

Everyone needs to slow down. Take a deep breath. Wentz is the right quarterback for this team. The Eagles will be fine. You’ll see if you don’t already know that.
