ITI: What’s the Jets’ biggest weakness on both offense and defense guys?

Justin T. Fried: This one is pretty straight-forward. On offense, the biggest issue holding the team back is the offensive line. Question the playcalling and lack of playmakers all you want. The offense cannot and will not succeed until the line allows them to do so. Against the Eagles, we could be in for another nightmare outing.

On defense, the Jets cornerbacks remain their weakest position group. I talked about how Brian Poole has exceeded expectations but the team’s outside cornerbacks have been a mess. Trumaine Johnson was benched, and they’ve been starting career backups, Darryl Roberts and Nate Hairston. What’s sad is the fact that injuries have had nothing to do with this. They’re healthy at the corner spots. They just aren’t performing.

Boy Green: Can I say everything (laughs)? No, seriously, this team has only scored one offensive touchdown through three weeks of play. That’s epically bad. The playcalling has been suspect. The team has been operating the offense with its third-string quarterback, and Le’Veon Bell can’t do it all by himself.

On top of all of that, as Justin mentioned, the Jets offensive line has been terrible. On paper, it would seem as though they should be average or slightly above average. Sadly, they haven’t played that way. Defensively, I would also agree with Justin about their depth chart for cornerbacks. They make you feel like it’s already Halloween because it’s scary.

If the Eagles spread out the Jets defense and spread the ball around with Carson Wentz, they should find great success.
