4. Can the Eagles defense carry last week’s performance into Week 6?

It isn’t often that you’ll see a star of Brandon Graham‘s caliber get three sacks in a single NFL game. It’s also infrequent that anyone accomplishing that feat gets ignored when the NFC Defensive Player of the Week becomes a conversation.

It’s even less frequent that you’ll see ten sacks by an NFL defense. You seldom see a guy who hadn’t played an NFL game all season get signed, step in less than a week later, and deliver with a strip-sack, one that he immediately transforms into a defensive touchdown.

That strip-sack was one of two forced fumbles by Orlando Scandrick, but just like Graham, when the NFL announced its’ NFC Defensive Player of the Week, Scandrick was ignored.

Now, much of that is because the Eagles took on a pathetic Jets offense, but that shouldn’t matter. They’re still an NFL team, and if Nick Bosa can claim the honor for helping the San Francisco 49ers dismantle the Cleveland Browns, a team that falls into the category of overhyped, Graham and Scandrick should have, at least, been mentioned.

That isn’t what’s important though. What is important is this. The Jets game can and should be used as a springboard for the Eagles’ defense going forward. Hopefully, they carry the momentum of Week 5 into Week 6.

We shouldn’t have to wait much longer to see if that’s the case.
