2. Every reacquisition, including that of Vinny Curry, isn’t his idea alone.

On March 21, 2019, after one season away from the Eagles and following a forgettable season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Vinny Curry was re-signed by Philly on a one-year deal. Okay, so maybe good old Howie can shoulder some of the blame for this one.

He just shouldn’t take the entire blame. Much of this one has to fall on the shoulders of Jim Schwartz and Doug Pederson as well.

Part of what’s made the Eagles leadership so great since Chip Kelly‘s firing, Pederson’s hiring, and Roseman’s restoration has been the fact that the leadership now works cohesively at the Novacare Complex. All that was said to say this.

As Roseman’s stated over and over, whenever there’s a roster move, there’s a discussion. Roseman spoke with Pederson and Schwartz before bringing Curry on, and his head coach and his defensive coordinator signed off on it.

Sure, Pederson and Schwartz are smarter than the rest of us about football, but for whatever reason, they’ve never been good at evaluating Vinny Curry. They just keep right on endorsing him while the rest of us seem to be the only ones who can see that this dude just can’t play. Not all of Roseman’s additions along the defensive line were bad ones though.
