1. Alshon Jeffery

As much as everyone loves Alshon Jeffery, everyone knew that at some point, he’d have to take a step backward. There have been a lot of issues with his body, and now, it seems this new version of a guy who earned the love of a nation of fans is breaking down.

In 2017, he played with a rotator cuff issue, and no one knew he was hurt. This season, we’re told that he’s healthy, but the eyeball test tells us that something is wrong.

He’s never been fast, but early in his career, he was, at least, quick. He isn’t quick anymore, so now, every target feels like a 50/50 ball, and he rarely comes up with the catch in those situations, a staple of his game that used to be what we celebrated Jeffery for. He has three touchdown catches on the season, and he’s only scored one throughout the last five games.

This new Jeffery has more drops through nine weeks than Nelson Agholor does, and no one’s noticed that because all they can think about is there has to be an explanation for how a guy with so much talent went from being exceptional to being below-average so quickly.
