You wouldn’t believe this, but now, the narrative is the Philadelphia Eagles should sign Antonio Brown.

At this point, there’s no logical explanation for any NFL team signing Antonio Brown. Any conversation with any logical football fan will tell you that, but here we all are entering Week 10, a bye week for the Philadelphia Eagles and that’s one of the narratives.

If you weren’t up early enough on November 5th to listen to 94 WIP-FM’s Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team, here’s what you missed. They ran a poll, and 53 percent of the voters in that poll said they want Philly to sign ‘A.B.’ It’s safe to say the 2019 regular season is teetering on desperation.

ITI wrote this exact same story eight months ago, and we were right. It appears that people need a reminder, so here it is. Here are three obvious reasons why the Eagles would be fools to sign him.

1. This team has already overpaid at the wide receiver position.

Alshon Jeffery is currently making over $11 million in 2019 and will make that again in 2020. Nelson Agholor, in all likelihood, is gone after this season, but he’s making over $9 million. Jackson is making over $8.9 million and is guaranteed another $9 million in 2020.

If you’re doing the math at home, that’s just under $30 million for three players who aren’t producing. Can someone please explain how adding another huge salary in the form of the oft-troubled ‘A.B.’ is a good idea?

2. Brown isn’t worth the headache.

It must be nice to be this guy. Only in the NFL can a man sit out of work and get upset when his employer decides that they don’t want to pay him. Only in the NFL can a man threaten his boss, drop a racial slur, get fired, and get another job a few days later.

Only in the NFL can that man get fired from his new job for threatening a key witness in a legal investigation that he’s the subject of, and only in the NFL can that man show no remorse for any of it and still be seen as a prospect to represent a billion-dollar organization. This is the guy that you want the Eagles to sign?

3. You do remember that there’s an ongoing investigation, right?

This one’s obvious. Ladies and gentlemen, you must have forgotten. The reason that this guy isn’t on a team right now is that he’s the subject of a legal investigation, one that isn’t close to being complete. Signing Antonio Brown is a horrible idea. Let’s move on from that one quickly.
