4. Nothing done in August works out (well, they did find Josh McCown)

The Eagles may not have found another signal-caller during last April’s draft, but they did find a very good backup after the injury that Nate Sudfeld sustained during Philly’s preseason game versus the Tennessee Titans.

Josh McCown was signed on August 17th to a one-year deal that was worth $5.4 million. That helped stabilize the quarterback room with some veteran leadership that honestly hasn’t been seen since Frank Reich and Nick Foles left.

Unfortunately, as far as Philly’s roster goes, nothing else of note came out of the other 30 days that our great country’s eighth month encompasses. Every NFL team is piecing a roster together in August, but when the highlights for Philly include the addition of Johnathan Cyprien, Akeem Spence, and Alex Ellis, you’d have to say the Eagles’ version of the preseason had very little sizzle and a whole lot less pop.
