You can criticize Jim Schwartz, but he hasn’t had much to work with.

Dud: Vinny Curry, defensive end

Vinny Curry was an underachiever during his first stint with the Eagles. Then, for some reason, he believed he deserved a large multi-year deal, and he was given one by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He failed in Tampa. Philly brought him back.

He’s failed for a second time. Love them or not, even if you criticize them, you would be foolish to believe that you know more about football than the Eagles coaching staff does. Still, it’s maddening to hear them talk about how good of a job guys like Hollins and Curry are doing.

Dud: Derek Barnett, defensive end

Take everything that was said about how much of a contributor Sidney Jones should be because he was a second-round draft selection, and amplify those thoughts for Derek Barnett. Why? Philly used a first-round selection on him. Why? Philly said goodbye to Chris Long and Michael Bennett because of him? Why? There has been no real return on their investment in him.

This was supposed to be a breakout season, and it hasn’t been.

Next. 4 Philadelphia Eagles who won’t return next season. dark

Honorable mention: We don’t often look at coaches as studs or duds, but offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receiver coach Carson Walch have to be placed in the ‘dud’ category. They have no business being in their positions.
