1. Jay Ajayi, running back

With Jordan Howard still on the sidelines, the Eagles have not utilized the run game enough. Howard has been out with a ‘stinger’ since the bye week, and he won’t play on Monday versus the New York Giants.

Miles Sanders has produced well with Howard out, racking up 184 yards on 40 carries and reaching the end zone while contributing in the passing game. Despite all of that, Sanders is not the tone-setter that Howard is and doesn’t share the same aggressive running style.

Third-string running back Jay Ajayi has a similar running style to Howard. Ajayi also has aspects of his game that are similar to Miles Sanders’ such as his ability to help in pass protection and being an accomplished receiver. During his time in Philly, Ajayi’s excelled as a solid, all-around back.

Although Ajayi has been a proven workhorse in the past, the Eagles have only used him on 16 total snaps in the past two games. They’ve had to go to Sanders more because Ajayi no longer has the explosion or the strength that he once did, but if Philly wants to make a run at the playoffs, they will need to find creative ways to get Ajayi more involved. If they do that, he can still provide a huge boost on offense.
