Philadelphia Eagles flashbacks: Philly’s 10 best victories over Washington
2. September 19th, 1993: Calvin Williams goes off
Here’s something that no one can dispute if they saw him play. There may not have ever been a Lamar Jackson or a Michael Vick without ’12’. Cunningham was otherworldly, and for most of his career, he had nothing around him as far as skill players go.
Do you think what might have happened if Cris Carter would have gotten it together and remained an Eagle? What if Keith Jackson would have never gone to South Beach to play with Dan Marino? Heck, what if Buddy Ryan would have just gotten an offensive coordinator and there would have never been a Rich Kotite?
So, you want to argue about how Donovan McNabb got screwed with James Thrash and Todd Pinkston eh? Randall had Fred Barnett and Calvin Williams. No, wait. We can’t disrespect Barnett and Williams like that. They weren’t that bad, and often, they made plays.
Look no further than a 1993 shootout where Williams caught eight passes for 181 yards and scored three touchdowns. His third was a game-winner with four seconds left to play as Philly took care of business in a 34-31 shootout.
The Eagles drove 83 yards in ten plays and did it in less than two minutes. Cunningham went 25 of 39 for 360 yards on the day. Nice!
