8. November 2nd, 1935: Beating the Redskins for the first time

Can’t we argue that there’s nothing like doing anything for the first time? Philly’s first two attempts at beating the Redskins didn’t go well, but the third time was the charm.

‘The Birds’ earned their first win in the series on November 2nd of 1935. It wasn’t a shootout. Both teams combined for 13 points, but there were two highlights worth mentioning. Try Bill Shepherd‘s 57-yard touchdown in the first quarter. That one put the Redskins up on the scoreboard by a score of 6-0 early in the contest.

The Eagles responded with a long scoring strike of their own. Quarterback Ed Storm went deep to Eggs Manske, and 55 yards later, Philly was in the end zone. The extra point put the Eagles up by a score of 7-6. The scoreboard wouldn’t budge for the rest of the game.
