Philadelphia Eagles: 7-Round 2020 mock draft following Wild Card Round
By Dan Parzych
Third Round: Colorado DT Mustafa Johnson
With Timmy Jernigan set to become an unrestricted free agent along with the need for some depth, there’s a good chance of Philadelphia looking to the draft to add another defensive tackle to the roster.
While there’s always the chance of the Eagles using their first-round selection on one since there will be plenty of top prospects available when they happen to be on the clock for the first time, the third round could also be the perfect time to focus on the position.
Dating back to 2018, Mustafa Johnson has been a name scouts have been keeping an eye on after watching the defensive tackle shine for Colorado’s defense by recording 7.5 sacks to go along with 15.5 tackles for loss.
In eight games this past season, Johnson’s numbers declined a bit (4.5 sacks to go along with 4.5 tackles for loss), but in the right defensive system, this could be a great third-round selection for a team like the Eagles.
Also, when hearing that Johnson reminds some people of Aaron Donald, why wouldn’t Philadelphia express interest in this kind of pass-rusher?
The chances of Johnson becoming the next Donald are obviously a long shot since the two-time Defensive Player of the Year is one of a kind, but there’s always hope when it comes to the NFL.
