. . Jadeveon Clowney. 2. player. 36.

Yes, Jadeveon Clowney wrecked the Eagles season with some dirty play. Yes, the decision to allow him to get off scot-free with no fine was unfortunate. Sure, the theories that Clowney is this guy that’s going to transform a team’s pass rush are erroneous (he’s really a better defender against the run). Still, even with all of that being said, emotions have to be taken out of the argument.

Clowney can play out of control, but he’s never had any character issues. There are some obvious issues with coordination and self-control, but when free agency opens, he’ll be one of the belles of the ball, and if he’s someone that can help the Eagles win, he’s definitely someone that’s worth their attention.

The pros and cons of evaluating Clowney have been the same since he was with the South Carolina Gamecocks. He can be a personal foul waiting to happen and he doesn’t give it his all at times, but he’s immensely talented. Whoever he winds up with will get one of the great young talents in the game. With the proper motivation and coaching, he can be dominant.

Calm down. Breathe. Take your emotions out of the argument. If you’re upset because Clowney had a personal foul penalty that wasn’t called, that’s okay. If you’re mad that the Eagles had a better chance with Carson Wentz on the field and you were robbed of that by Clowney, that’s fair.

The facts are the facts though. He can play, and he can help the Eagles win games. Most of you were of the same theory prior to the most recent Wild Card weekend game, and there’s no real reason, other than anger, to change that opinion now.
