The Cowboys get worse, the Eagles get better

One of the main reasons fans should love this potential signing of Jones would be how the Eagles would be taking the Cowboys best defensive back away from them.

Now listen, I understand that this didn’t pan out well for the Eagles when they snagged running back Demarco Murray from Dallas back in the Chip Kelly days, but cornerback is a lot harder to replace than a running back in today’s NFL.

Losing a player of Jones’ caliber could derail the Cowboys entire secondary. With the number of big name Cowboys players who are set to hit free agency this offseason, they won’t have the money to replace Jones with another top tier corner on the market.

Most likely, Dallas will have to find a replacement for Jones in the draft and usually young corners take a few seasons to develop before hitting an elite level.

For the Eagles, they would be gaining a stout corner and filling their biggest need on the defensive side of the ball. Watching their team get better while their most hated rival subsequently get worse is a dream come true for every Eagles fan out there, which should make them want Jones even more in free agency.
