2. The constant threat of injuries means Philly needs ‘Big V’ for insurance.

No one knows more about the war of attrition than the Eagles and their fans. Maybe it’s some sort of weird karma for the ‘Body Bag Game’ and those ‘Bounty Bowls’, but this team can’t seem to catch a break as far as the injuries go.

It almost makes you feel like there’s no need to collapse the blue tent. Philly just needs to leave their tent up on Sundays. It would save them a lot of time.

On a more serious note, there’s something else that needs to be considered. Let’s just ponder the idea that Peters doesn’t leave (it’s unlikely but possible). We’re already aware that, while he is great, he’s far from indestructible. He also turned 38 years old this past season. This is an aging Eagles team, and in the grand scheme of things, that may be why everybody gets hurt all of the time.

With that being said, the more realistic approach to curing a long-time issue and freeing up cap space is allowing Peters’ time in midnight green to come to its end. As mentioned, that moves Dillard up on the depth chart but it doesn’t answer any questions about the team’s depth along the offensive line.

Once Johnson went down in 2019, two things became painfully clear. One, Andre Dillard can’t play right tackle, and second, ‘Big V’ has a very underrated quality.
