2020 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Eagles focus on safety with Grant Delpit
By Dan Parzych
After years of trying to find a new quarterback to build the franchise around, the New York Jets finally seem to have found their answer in Sam Darnold with the way the former USC star has looked over the previous two seasons.
And while the Jets deserve credit for bringing in other weapons for Darnold to work with last offseason such as Le’Veon Bell, the offense still has some work to do before they reach the necessary level to become a playoff contender in the AFC.
Then again, New York is arguably in better shape than most football fans realize after finishing 2019 on a high note by winning six of their final eight games.
Since one of the top priorities surrounding the Jets over the next few months will be continuing to build a better offense around Darnold, it only seems fair to focus on the offensive line in the first round of the draft.
When it comes to the top prospects available, Tristan Wirfs deserves strong consideration following an impressive college career at Iowa.
Not only would a move like this help provide Darnold with the necessary protection on the offensive line, but Wirfs and his ability to open up the ground game would benefit Bell as well in the backfield.
