Iowa. A.J. Epenesa. 48. Edge. 14. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to try figuring out whether Jameis Winston deserves another chance to prove himself as the starter in 2020, the team still has a few other key areas in need of improvement as well.

Believe it or not, there was a point in the second half of the regular season in which the Buccaneers were actually in the hunt for one of the Wild Card spots in the NFC before the team eventually came up short.

Even if Tampa Bay were to end up giving it another go with Winston in 2020, in order for the team to truly become a top contender in the NFC once again, the defense will need to see some sort of improvement.

If the Buccaneers were to focus on defense at No. 14, A.J. Epenesa and his ability to get to opposing quarterbacks seems like a move that could work wonders right away for the unit.

Just how great was Epenesa’s career at Iowa? Watching Epenesa record 22 sacks during his final two seasons with the Hawkeyes makes it seem clear the key defender is ready to make the leap to the NFL.

Tampa Bay has numerous positions they can focus on this early in the draft, but since the NFC South is loaded with talented offenses, a pass-rusher like Epenesa could help the Buccaneers be better competitors with their rivals for years to come.
