Philadelphia Eagles scouting: 10 Potential backup QBs worth watching
The analysis of Nathan Stanley is all over the place. He scores well enough in the minds of some scouts that he’s been given a few Round 4 grades, but others look at him and can’t see him as being anything more than a possible sixth-rounder (that’s if they have him getting drafted at all).
He measures well. He’s six-foot-four. He weighs 242 pounds, but the numbers aren’t going to stagger anyone. He was only able to muster 16 touchdowns in 13 games for the Iowa Hawkeyes as a passer. Then again, we’re talking about Iowa. Do they even throw the ball there?
If you’ve ever watched Iowa football, you’d believe that they don’t, but he numbers suggest otherwise. In 2019, Stanley attempted 399 passes, completing just under 60 percent (59.4). He did take care of the ball better than most, throwing just seven interceptions in 2019.
His ceiling is probably one where he competes for a backup or emergency role though. Expect to see him carrying a clipboard as the team that drafts him will probably need some time to develop him for the pro game.
In 2018, he threw for 2,852 yards and 26 touchdowns, giving him 1,155 completions, 8,297 passing yards, 68 touchdowns, and 23 picks for his career.
