The Notre Dame Fighting Irish is, at times, college football’s version of the Dallas Cowboys. They’re one of a kind. They’re polarizing. Often, they’re overhyped, and we’re told that they’re better than they are. Still, football wouldn’t be the same if they didn’t exist.

Love them or hate them, Notre Dame has done enough to earn a lot of that attention that they’ve received from the media, fielding teams with enough NFL-worthy talent to keep die-hard football fans and the media interested.

In 2019, Jalen Elliott was a huge reason for the hype. He’s a six-foot-one, 210-pound one-man wrecking crew that tallied 49 stops, two picks, and two pass breakups in his final season in South Bend.

852. . . . Antoine Winfield. 10. player

Antoine Winfield is the ball hawk that every football fan and coach wants on their team. In 2019, he tallied 85 tackles, seven interceptions, and three sacks. One of the most overused terms in football is ‘he was everywhere’, but during his final season with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Winfield was everywhere.

He’s short, which rules out him shutting down many of the tight ends and lengthy deep threats that play wide receiver in the NFL, but he’s a nice idea for someone who’s looking for safety prospects in Round 3 or later.
