Philadelphia Eagles: Predicting which free agents will re-sign for 2020
Timmy Jernigan
Like McLeod, the Eagles will have a tough decision when it comes to Timmy Jernigan. The caveat in a potential deal is the risk involved with Jernigan’s injury history, having only played 27 percent of snaps this season, an improvement over the four percent that he played the previous year.
Albeit, Jernigan is an undeniable asset to the defensive line when paired with Fletcher Cox, while the return of Malik Jackson would create a formidable trio. If the money is right, the Eagles may not be able to pass up the opportunity to feature the 27-year-old Jernigan with Cox and Jackson next season.
Prediction: Jernigan re-signs with the team
Hassan Ridgeway
Should Jernigan return, Hasaan Ridgeway would likely be the fourth defensive tackle in the rotation next season.
Ridgeway began the year as such, but was forced into a starting role alongside Cox when injuries began piling up.
In Jackson and Jernigan’s absence, Ridgeway performed well with two sacks and four tackles for loss in seven games.
Still at the age of 25 and yet to prove himself, Ridgeway wouldn’t cash in on the open market and will likely take a short-term contract from the Eagles to improve his value in the future.
