15 Philadelphia Eagles LB targets to potentially replace Nigel Bradham
Well, look at who we found on Chip Kelly‘s team! Krys Barnes is one of those guys that we could talk about a lot between now and the end of April, but let’s rewind the tape a little.
In 2015, Kelly was Philly’s head coach, and though he was doing all that he could to ruin the Eagles’ from the inside, he did something right when he landed Hicks in the third round of that year’s draft.
Hicks was taken with the 84th-overall selection. A year later, the Doug Pederson era began. Since then, Philly’s drafted Joe Walker in 2016 during Round 7 and Nathan Gerry was taken in Round 5 a season later in 2018. That’s been all that this team has done in the way of strengthening their linebacker corps through the draft recently.
Nathan Gerry is good, but Hicks was the most talented of the three players named. He was one of Kelly’s best decisions as a head coach. How interesting would it be if Philly found a ten-year starter on Kelly’s new team? After recording 72 tackles and four sacks for the UCLA Bruins in 2019, he’s worth checking out.
Jacob Phillips was one of the leaders on a defensive unit that helped carry the LSU Tigers to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game win to close the 2019-2020 NCAA season.
He racked up 105 total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in 2019, and at six-foot-four and 233 pounds, he won’t have any shortages when it comes to potential suitors. If he finds his way to the Novacare Complex, he immediately upgrades their middle linebacker position.
