. . Trevon Diggs, cornerback. . player. 829.

As mentioned, taking Ruggs in Round 1 would generate quite a bit of a buzz in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, and if things actually played out that way and Philly wound up with another member of the Tide in the following round, Trevon Diggs for instance, half of the draft experts would probably be of the mindstate that the Eagles draft couldn’t have started in any better fashion.

These days, we don’t evaluate cornerbacks on much more than whether or not they force turnovers and if they get beaten deep by the other team’s wide receivers. No one would have to worry about that with Diggs. He’s a guy that excels in both of those areas and so many others.

Diggs has no problem with sticking his head in on tackles. He had 37 of those in 2019 and 68 over the course of 44 career games at the collegiate level. He also hauled in four career interceptions (three in 2019). His 17 career pass breakups are a testament to the instincts he’s shown over the past four NCAA seasons.

He’s big and can run, so it isn’t ridiculous that he’d be a day-one starter on the outside. He figures to go in late on Round 1 or early in Round 2.
