4 Notre Dame prospects who instantly upgrade Philadelphia Eagles roster

Veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins is entering the final season of his contract, but he doesn’t like the way it’s currently constructed. He says he won’t be returning until a more suitable deal is on the table. Philly also has to bang out an extension for Rodney McLeod if he’s in the long-term plans for the Eagles future.

If Philly intends to say goodbye to one or both of them, safety obviously becomes a position of importance. If one or both stays, there’s still an issue about depth. After Jenkins and McLeod, Philly has Rudy Ford, who spent much of the 2019-2020 season on the IR (injured reserve), and Marcus Epps, a man who’s played 110 snaps on defense and 188 special teams snaps over the course of a 15-game NFL career.

Keep an eye on Jalen Elliott. He may rise on a few draft boards. He’s six-foot-tall. He weighs 205 pounds. and in 2019, he made a name for himself by tallying 49 tackles, two picks, and two pass breakups.
