Some of the talk surrounding defensive end Julian Okwara is he could be moved to outside linebacker at the next level. He’s being talked about as one of those prospects that could wind up being a dangerous edge rusher for someone at the pro level, and though it isn’t a certainty, he could force the ‘Birds’ to consider taking one of those early draft choices on someone who isn’t a wideout or a cornerback.

It’s not too far out of the realm of possibility that Okwara could play with his hand in the ground at the next level. He’s been an effective pass rush at the collegiate level from the defensive end position, but against better competition at the NCAA level, the Georgia Bulldogs‘ Andrew Thomas for instance, he wasn’t able to cause a lot of damage to what Georgia wanted to do.

He’s six-foot-five. He weighs 240 pounds, and at this point, he’s been given both first-round and third-round draft grades. It’s doubtful that he drops to Round 3 though.

For those of you that like stats, you’ll be intrigued by Okwara’s. He didn’t rack up a ton of tackles in 2019 (18), but he did rack up four sacks and two forced fumbles, giving him 79 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two picks, four forced fumbles, and a pass breakup over the course of 35 career games.
