4 Notre Dame prospects who instantly upgrade Philadelphia Eagles roster
As mentioned, nine members of the Irish’s 2019-2020 squad have been invited to the combine. That includes the aforementioned Okwara, Elliott, Pride, and Claypool. That also includes wide receiver Chris Finke, defensive back Alohi Gilman, running back Tony Jones, defensive lineman Khalid Kareem, and tight end Cole Kmet.
There’s also Liam Eichenberg. He’s an offensive tackle that didn’t get the combine invite, but at six-foot-six and 308 pounds, he could get a few looks at Notre Dame’s Pro Day. The tape doesn’t lie though. He was whooped soundly by the Michigan Wolverines‘ Chase Winovich when they crossed paths, but that was in 2018. Eichenberg has improved since then and put the NFL on the backburner a season ago to return to Notre Dame in an attempt to improve.
That was a wise idea. He figures to be a third-day prospect if Philly wants to add depth to the offensive line.
That brings us to Cole Kmet. He’s a six-foot-five tight end who could complete a nice tight end trio as insurance for Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. He caught 43 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns in 2019.
Khalid Kareem is a six-foot-four, 265-pound tight end. He racked up 46 tackles and 5.5 sacks in his final season with the Irish. ‘Birds’ fans also want to keep up with wide receiver Chris Finke, defensive back Alohi Gilman, and running back Tony Jones. Each prospect is being eyed by NFL scouts and are well deserving of a trip to Indianapolis.
