. . JaCorey Shepherd, 6th Round. . player. 54.

191st-overall selection (2015)

Free-agent JaCorey Shepherd‘s career as professional spans almost five years, four football seasons including one with the now-defunct AAF’s Birmingham Iron, and eleven games as a professional.

He found some success as a return man. He boasts 11 defensive snaps and 111 special teams snaps in those eleven games. You can’t make this stuff up. He also picked up 456 return yards on 21 kick returns. Unfortunately, none of that came in an Eagles jersey (thus, the corresponding photo featuring him in San Francisco 49ers gear). It’s difficult to find a shot of him doing anything important in an Eagles jersey on Pinterest or anywhere else.

You hope to get something out of a sixth-round draft choice, although we’re all well aware of the fact that Tom Brady‘s story isn’t the endgame for most of the guys who fall in that category. Instead, most end up like Mr. Shepherd. Technically, at the time of this story being published, he hasn’t retired from the game. He’s still a free agent, but it’s difficult to imagine a scenario in which he plays again.

To make matters worse, Qunadre Diggs was drafted 200th overall. Maybe Philly should have gone with him instead. Grade: F
