Tackle

. player. 54. . . . Best option: Halapoulivaati Vaitai

Honorable mention: Dennis Kelly

Let’s make this quick. Let’s make this easy. Guys who can play both tackle positions and the guard position don’t grow on trees. Just look at what happened when Philly tried to plug last year’s first-round selection in at right tackle. ‘Big V’ aka Halapoulivaati Vaitai is much more important than some of the detractors realize.

Yes, we know what his shortcomings are. If all Philly did was run the ball, he’d be perfect. His struggles have often come in pass protection, but if you haven’t learned of his talents and his value yet, there’s probably nothing that anyone can do to convince you that there are many.

Just know this. The talent level on Philly’s line diminishes if he leaves.

Keep an eye on Dennis Kelly if Philly moves on from Vaitai as Kelly has been with the ‘Birds’ before. Trading him for Dorial Green-Beckham wasn’t a good idea, and get this. Kelly is tied with JJ Arcega-Whiteside in career touchdowns.

player. 53. . . . Worst option: Greg Robinson.

The Eagles spent a first-round draft choice on Andre Dillard in 2019. They also made sure that they took care of Lane Johnson. There’s no reason to break the bank on a reserve lineman.

That rules out Anthony CastonzoJack Conklin, and Bryan Bulaga.

Greg Robinson was the second-overall selection in 2014’s NFL Draft, but he’s never lived up to his potential. Philly would be wise to steer clear.
