3. player. 123. . . . Amari Cooper

Those of you who are on the ‘Philly doesn’t need to sign any former Dallas Cowboys train’ need to get over it. Two of the best free agents in this year’s pool come from that team in the ugly blue, white, and grey jerseys, Byron Jones on defense and Amari Cooper on offense.

Love them or not, if they both wind up in an Eagles jersey, the ‘Birds’ aren’t just the favorites to win the NFC East, they’re in the conversation of possible teams who can represent the NFC in the next Super Bowl.

Cooper is one of the game’s big-time receiving talents, and in terms of wideouts, he’ll be the belle of the ball by the time the frenzy that is the free-agency period finally kicks off. There’s just one thing.

Cooper doesn’t come without his fair share of question marks. There is some risk. Last season, he shrunk in quite a few big moments for Dallas. Sure, you can blame the nicks and bruises, but that leads to another issue. It seems like he’s dealing with something physically quite often these days.

He’s only 26, so he is relatively young and has a ton of potential, but on the flip side, it wasn’t that long ago that we watched him quit on what was then the Oakland Raiders (gosh, it’s going to be hard to remember to call them ‘Las Vegas’.

Is Cooper capable of consistently being ‘the guy’ in an NFL offense or is he someone who gets going in the wrong direction when the going gets tough? Those are questions that face the team that signs him to a big deal. Even still, you’d be hard-pressed to find a ton of available options that are better for these Philadelphia Eagles.

There are two though, and one of them is coming up. Grade: A-
