2. Has Jefferson edged Ruggs in the court of public opinion?

At this point, depending on who you poll, it’s a pretty fair bet to assume that Ruggs is probably still graded higher than Jefferson with many of the pro scouts, on quite a few teams’ draft boards, and in the minds of Philadelphia Eagles fans.

There are a couple of questions that we all need to ask though. We know overreaction is one of the most forgotten factors of being a sports fan. Does Ruggs’ combine performance solidify him as the third-best wide receiver of the 2020 class behind his teammate Jerry Jeudy and the very impressive CeeDee Lamb or was he already in that position?

If he is the third-best receiver in this class, would he even be available at 21? If his stock soars, would Philly use their resources to trade up and get him if it was necessary that they do so, or do they stay put at 21?

If Ruggs does rise and Philly stays in their current slot, who becomes the best available option then? Is it Laviska Shenault or is Charley Casserly correct? Is the idea of Justin Jefferson in a midnight green jersey a very real possibility? Jefferson may not have passed Ruggs in the court of public opinion, but he definitely raised his stock. We’ll have to wait and see what that does for his draft status.
