Here’s what Clowney’s done.

Physically, there isn’t much to complain about with Jadeveon Clowney. He’s six-foot-five. He weighs 255 pounds, and if we just looked at his athletic ability, it would be easy to walk away feeling like he could have succeeded at any sport that he decided to play, except for maybe baseball.

Despite having so many physical gifts, there are too many moments when he borders on being clumsy and can’t seem to maintain control over what his body is doing.

With that being said, it’s hard to imagine him turning a successful double play, and it may also explain why there are so many personal foul penalties that seemed unnecessary on his resume. Whether they get called or not and whether he gets fined for them or not is another story.

Unfortunately, there are and always have been two major knocks on the man who may be the most sought after defensive end on the market once the free agency frenzy begins.

One, unlike Ngakoue, Clowney’s a little more fragile. After being taken first overall by the Houston Texans in 2014, his rookie season was cut short due to injury, and for whatever reason, it just seems like he’s always been dealing with something ever since.

The second issue with Clowney is his motor. He just takes too many plays off. When he feels like being dominant, he most certainly is. When he doesn’t, the complaints about someone with so many physical gifts being unmotivated begin. Both of those areas will scare anyone looking to land him in free agency.
