5 Wide receivers Philadelphia Eagles must avoid in 2020 NFL Draft
Sometimes, people change their minds, and they’re called hypocrites. Often, the criticism is a very narrow view from someone who lacks the info to make an informed decision. Sure, hypocrites exist, but sometimes, a guy or gal just changes his or her mind. That’s just what grown-ups do when they grow, broaden their horizons, and gather more information.
Updated information can sometimes make something that seemed like the gospel a month ago look like something ridiculous a month later, and what’s sad is It wasn’t even that long ago when we were debating whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles would be interested in selecting Laviska Shenault Jr. with the 21st-overall selection. One month later, that looks like a bad idea.
While arguments like ‘drafting a Pac 12 receiver never leads to success’ aren’t going to cut it in the evaluation process, watching someone’s body fail them constantly is worth noting if you have any intentions of adding that guy to your team.
Any football fan will applaud Shenault’s perseverance and motor and the way he gutted out a nice showing at the NFL Combine. Any general manager who’s desperate for immediate production from young guys at the skill positions should be concerned about taking a wide receiver who constantly battled injury at the collegiate level, needs surgery now, and may or may not be ready for the 2020 regular season. This was a decent idea, but it’s not worth the risk for Philly. We all should be crossing his name off of our imaginary draft boards.
