Philadelphia Eagles receive good news prior to free agency, 3 reactions
3. None of this matters if Philly doesn’t nail this draft.
April 23rd approaches. The theories about what Philly may or may not do will increase. They need to solve their riddle at both wide receiver and cornerback. They need depth along the offensive line and at running back. They need legitimate starting linebackers and help at safety, and it wouldn’t hurt if they found a capable young pass rusher (or two).
There are holes everywhere, but what’s unfortunate is some of those issues have been talked about in just about every offseason since 2017. Philly’s always looking for cornerbacks. They’re always looking for wide receivers, and part of the reason why is they’ve been clueless about how to draft them.
This is the most flexibility that this team has had in a while, and it’s been a while since they had this many draft choices. They only had ten in 2018 and in 2019 combined, but having more now means nothing if they don’t capitalize on the opportunity. Every draft is important, but the ‘Birds’ have to nail this one.
